Michelle sighed to herself, stuffing her hands into the pockets of her jeans, as she walked into the cafeteria. Lunch was something that she could avoid sometimes. After all, choosing the right table to sit at was frustrating. Then again, maybe that was her own fault. She was way too quiet to just walk up to a random table filled with people and sit down. While she adjusted the strap of her backpack, she scanned the room quickly. Nope, there was no one that she knew there.
She continued to stand there, somewhat like an idiot, as the cafeteria continued with laughter and chatter all around. Shaking her head, she muttered something to herself and headed to lunch line for her food. After minutes of watching people get front of her, she finally managed to get her lunch. Finding an empty table, she sat down and prayed that someone she knew would walk by and sit down.

Thomas Herkner ••••••••••••••
Lunch. He could care less about getting food into his belly, however, unlike his other school this one was closed campus. Meaning he could not 'drive to get lunch' somewhere else but would have to be imprisoned in the stupid school for lunch that could pass as plastic. He was used to German food, good warm and natural seasoning that was always different; not pizza that bounced if he dropped it. He decided to go without food and just get some later, when school was out or, if worst came to worst and his stomach began talking, mooch off someone who was able to give into the pity.
His gaze settled on a familiar face he had met in the principals office; my, they had a lot in common. Most often, they were found in the principals office and second, they had no where to sit in a group of people; made her seem so much more friendly. He strode over and took a seat,"This seat taken?" his calm voice dipped a smile to her before scanning the rest of the lunch room; as if a new kid had some friends.

Michelle was stabbing her food aimlessly with her fork as she heard a familiar sounding voice. Looking up, she saw that it was Thomas, the guy she had met in the principles office. She remembered him telling her that he was new here. After thinking about it for a moment, that was probably why he had no where to sit. Because he was new. He'll probably have a bunch of friends soon enough.
Shaking her head, she smiled at him. "Hey there," She replied, before adding quickly, "You wouldn't believe me if I told you it was taken, would you? Smiling at him once more, she then looked down on her food and frowned. Guess she wasn't going to eat that much after all.

Thomas shook his head,"Uh nope, this seat is freezing," he put his hand on the seat before finally taking the pain of icicles up his butt from the cold plastic; lovely, just lovely. He chuckled at his own joke, looking at her fork that was not victorious in capturing food. "Use it like a spoon; those spikes at the end are only for stabbing people you don't like at a formal dinner."
His innocent half sided smirk was regained as he propped his head on one hand and once again scanned the cafeteria. Well, debating inside his head, Michelle was a very nice girl and extremely pretty on that note; letting him sit there was just nice although, maybe she just wanted company and his was the only one offered. Made him feel like a last resort but if it made her feel any better, she was his first; a familiar face after all is much easier to say hello to than a pms captive expression.

Michelle shook her head and laughed."It's not that freezing. It's simply nice, She said, knowing that the plastic chair was quite cold. Looking down at her fork and food, she listened to his advice and used it like a spoon. Scoping up some food and taking a bite, she smiled at him. "I knew that..." She retorted, shaking her head with a smile on her face.
Michelle continued to eat, but she couldn't help but be glad that Thomas was there as her company. He seemed extremely nice and not bad looking either. Sure, it might seem like she wanted company, and he was her only choice, but she wanted to be his friend. He was new, and she'd be glad to be his first friend. Smiling to herself, she looked at him and noticed that he had no food. "Aren't you going to eat? She asked curiously, her eyebrow raised.

He shook his head, shifting himself uncomfortably in the seat,"Maybe you have a warm seat because some kid already sat in it or you have heating installed under the seat but see, mine is from the north pole, it is freezing; no kidding." He curved a smile onto his lips, flipping his gaze to meet hers for a moment,"No, you didn't," he looked to her plate,"That would be empty by now."
He played a raise of his eye brows before looking to the other tables, only vaguely hearing her question and bluntly replying in a quite teasing manner,"I don't eat junk food." he looked back to her,"Except chips, energy drinks, twinkies, candy and Mcdonald's."

"I don't believe that at all,"Michelle said. "There's no way your chair can be that much colder than mine. A little maybe, but the north pole?" She shook her head and laughed softly. Scrunching up her nose at him, she shook her head. "That's so not true. I knew what I was doing, a hundred percent," She said, sticking her tongue out playfully before adding, "Maybe I don't want eat."
She watched as he looked around at the other tables, wondering if he wanted to sit with them more than he wanted to sit with her. Shaking her head, she smiled when he explained what he ate. ”Hmm….those seem like really healthy food,” She said with a smile and another shake of her head.

Thomas shook a grin to his lips,"Maybe my butt was hot when I sat down so it felt colder; I think I warmed it up pretty good now." He playfully chuckled, flickering his gaze to the table, tracing the marks in the plastic want to be wood. He quieted down a bit,"There are cliques here, right? The whole shabang of expectations?" He tilted his blue eyes back to meet hers, a confident shine accompanying his question.
The rest of her comments brought another handsome chuckle to slip up,"Better than the plastic they give us." His calm disposition never broke, the whole world could have blown up and he would have never cared; after all, his car was okay, right?

Michelle smiled and laughed. "Well, I guess that's okay. We wouldn't want your butt to freeze or something bad like that,"She said, continuing to smile. She watched as he looked around and then asked her a question. Nodding, "Yeah, there are cliques here and everything. She didn't care much about cliques, but maybe if there weren't any, she wouldn't have to worry about sitting at the wrong table.
She shook her head at his comment and smiled. "Oh, it's not that bad," She said, flicking her gaze back on her food and frowned slightly. So their food wasn't the best in the world, but it had to be slightly better than eating nothing at all. "So...what do you think about this place?"She asked, making a gesture toward the cafeteria, but meant the school as a whole instead.

He toyed a smile before dropping his gaze to his hands. They rested loosely folded before him on the table. "Well, where do you belong?" His eyes flickered up, lightly landing her as his expression erased; he was somewhat curious now, dealing thoughts about what kind of culture he had mixed himself into. At home, it was simply different. He went from groups that were hardly defined, laughed with them, joked with them and most of the time got in trouble with them. Everyone seemed to be in it to live; not get graded on how pretty they were, or rich or clever with their insults towards others. But for now, he would just have to live with the stupid change that he was still getting used to after eight years.
Upon her gesture, he turned his attention to the rest of the student body; stunning, he had to admit, but still, he was vague with the personalities. "Well, the reviews on the computers were good but that was probably typed by some upper class man who sees it from their perfect view; not kids down below, where I will fit in. But the building is nice, the ideas are unique; but hey, do you know what goes on under the radars? He flipped his eyes back to her, a soft innocent smile driving his lips to curve up.
