Religion has influenced a lot of things. It influenced Michaelangelo to paint the famous painting in the Sistine Chapel. It influenced the famous Crusades so long ago. It influenced Martin Luther to defy the Church of England and stand up for what he felt was right, creating the religion now known as Lutheran. There is no doubt that religion influences many people lives; for some, their religion is the most important thing in their lives. Some also believe others should be influenced by their religion; should know the one that's 'right.' This is especially true in the Christian religion.
This was the viewpoint of Beth Lee Morgan in Sliversprings, Texas. During the Scope's trail she was insulted that anyone would dare question the Bible and brainwash children with Evolution. The story goes that she prayed for days and days, asking God what to do about millions of children being poisoned with these kind of unGodly ideas. One night when she was praying God gave her the answer. She was to build a school; a school where children would learn by the Bible and learn their right and true path God planned for them.
She told parents in the town of this plan and they agreed, thinking like her that this Evolution theory was going to brainwash their children. At first it was rather simply; only a small renovated farmhouse with about 50 students. Only pastors were teachers at times; the parents believing that since they were right and just and called by God, they could teach their children the right an proper way. Though, after more parents heard of this, more parents sent their children to this school dubbed the School Of Christ. Soon, the school was moved into a bigger building to accommodate the new students. The school still carried its simplicity, however, holding students from many backgrounds. It was a school that anyone could attend, rather rich or poor. However, this soon changed as new teachers were hired and more students poured in, making the tuition rise, forcing many of the poorer students to leave; making the school a school for the rich.
Today, School Of Christ is known as one of the most conservative schools in town. Though the the school no longer has pastors for teachers, the school is still said to be one of the most religious school in town, their goal being to, "Help students go the path God has planed for them." The rules are very strict, made to 'guide students away from what's wrong and evil.' Evolution is never spoken of, health class consists of teaching kids why sex is immoral and wrong and you should only do it when your married, there's mandatory chapel every Wednesday afternoon and every morning there's prayer.
Also, the school represents the richest families in town, and also the most religious. The parents who send their kids here usually believe that a Christian religion is the most important thing to give a child and that they must have an education set on the standards of the Bible or they'll go the wrong path in life. They believe their children should be untainted by the brainwashing of public schools, whose teachings can go against the Bible's view that Christianity is the right and true religion and God created the universe. They send their kids to this school in hopes they will learn true right and wrong.
God, I dreamed there was an angel who could hear me though the walls, as I cried out like in Latin this is not life at all, help me out, out of this nightmare...-Spring Awakening
However, things aren't always a they sound.. The students who go to this school are denied the lessons kids need in order to grow up. They usually know nothing about other religions, being taught Christianity is the only true religion. They know nothing about sex besides the fact it's bad and that it should wait until after marriage. Most don't know anything besides the little bubble that is their school. They were raised to be good little Christian boys and girls and that's it and some believe that's all they can be.
Some grow to hate God and the whole Christian religion because of the intolerance and old-fashioned nature of the school and rebel. Most grow confused, hardly knowing what to do when their relationships grow higher than expect, more passionate than they could dream. Some grow to fear sin, worried they will spend eternity in Hell for one little sin. Welcome to School Of Christ, your own state of personal confusion.
This is an RPG site based loosely off the ideas of Spring Awakening, a musical that deals with sexual confusion and the errors many parents make by sheltering their kids and hiding things they see as evil and sinful from them.
